Christmas Chiffon Cakes

A day before, our mom has already been hard at work trying to bake the awesome Chiffon Cakes that we’ve been traditionally been doing for more than 5 years now. These cakes are so awesome that a lot of people pre-order the cakes. Due to the low price plus awesome taste of the cakes, these go and run out so fast. Basically, we sell these cakes just enough to minimally provide a party for the whole family and relatives.

When AJ and I have been working together with The LaC Project, he came up with the idea of giving out Cakes when he knew that we bake cakes during Christmas and in the New Year. We decided to give cakes to whoever has nothing to eat during Christmas. It’s really hard to think that we celebrate Christmas knowing that there are some people out there who have nothing to eat or celebrate Christmas when you are hungry. How can someone celebrate when hungry?

Now, Jerome (The LaC Project’s Director of Happyness) and I have been working to compile this documentation in hopes that a lot of us would do the same. Don’t you think it’s good to receive gifts and a lot have been hungry during Christmas?

To start, here are the compilations that I have made with what we do. First I have made a documentation about how the cakes are made in our home.

Here is Shobe, my sister who is helping our mom who has been awake the whole night to bake the cakes. She helps our mom lessen the burden of baking the cakes. You see her resting for a while…

Here are he basic things we put together in baking the cakes. Sorry, secret formula won’t be documented. :P

Jerome and I knew that traffic would be a huge problem when we are giving the cakes. We decided to give to people who are away from the center of the city first. We see here an old couple in a make shift home beside the road. When they saw Jerome, they smiled when he said “Good morning Ma’am, here’s a cake for you both, Merry Christmas!” They were not hoping or expecting that we’d give them anything. It came to them as a surprise.

Here is a person who is guarding a land, we know that guards usually don’t have any Christmas to celebrate because they have to guard a place no matter what. We gave one to this guy.

We have just traveled quite far because it’s been really difficult looking for the people worthy of a Christmas Cake. We know that our cakes are so limited that we give selectively. If only we can frenzy on giving the cakes, but we can only give so much…

While already fast on the road looking for more people who need something to eat this Christmas, Jerome was quite an eagle eye to spot one just beside a wall on the remote area of the mountains of the city.

Do you notice that steep hill behind Jerome? We tried to climb that place with the motorcycle but it was too steep and too dusty that we skidded backwards. Good that Jerome had a quick reflex to get off the motorcycle and I was able to recover quickly.

This guy here has his dad inside, but was sleeping. Perfect timing that he got back to his home before we decided to leave.

Now, we’re really far out on the mountain. I decided to take a picture of this beautiful landscape…

While being stuck on extremely heavy traffic, we stumbled on a guy with his disabled dad. He’s been helping his dad walk and ask nearby cars for spare change. Jerome told me to give them a cake. We were actually on the race against time because the traffic light could signal a go anytime! Perfect timing that when we were able to run just after we took the second photo. Jerome was already telling that “It’s go! Go! Go!”

Here are the remaining eggs we need to bake more cakes. That’s still quite a lot of eggs! :)

To continue, we found a blind old lady by the sidewalk left all alone. We wondered why nobody even bothered to give her anything, so we gave her a cake! :)

We found another blind person accompanied with his daughter.

A disabled person beside the drug store…

Another disabled guy beside another drug store… It seems that they have their own territories here in the city…

This guy was shocked that we gave him a cake! :)

The last part of the the second wave of Jerome and I giving the cakes to people during this Christmas..
